[Outline of the Program]

Program Contents

Students from TCUE attend classes with DCU students for about 9 months during the student exchange program. Credits earned at DCU can be translated into TCUE credits, therefore students can complete their TCUE courses within four years even if they participate in this program.
To attend regular classes at DCU, a fairly fluent level of English skill is required. Therefore, participants are also required to take English classes, including "Oral English." You can consult with the Japanese teachers who teach Japanese language classes at DCU regarding various issues.
Participants in this program will live in a university dormitory located on campus. Students can enjoy trips to neighboring countries in their free time, however it must be at their own expense and they must assume complete responsibility for their own safety. This program may be suitable for those who have acquired proficiency in English and want to live in an English-speaking country for a long period of time.

Period

About 9 months from the end of September next year to the end of May of the following year.

Costs

Students paying their TCUE tuition do not have to pay tuition at DCU. Other necessary expenses including airfare, overseas travelers' personal accident insurance premiums, room and board, food expenses and fees for educational materials must be borne by the participants. While the total costs are estimated to be between 1.5-1.8 million yen, the actual amount varies significantly depending on exchange rates, individual lifestyles and other factors. Participants will receive a subsidy totaling 510,000 yen; 400,000 yen from TCUE and 110,000 yen from a combination of the Supporters' Association and the alumni association.

Notes

Credits earned at DCU may be translated into TCUE credits, therefore participants can complete their TCUE courses within four years even if they participate in this program. Nevertheless, there is still a possibility that a student may need to repeat a year therefore it is important to pay close attention and confirm the credit conditions required for graduation in advance. If you are considering participating in a study abroad program, it is recommended you consult with a staff member in charge of the education affairs in your faculty at the Academic Affairs Office.

Application

An explanatory meeting for students considering studying at DCU will be held in mid-November. The specific date and time of the meeting will be announced on the notice board and via Active Mail. If you wish to attend, please check these notices. After the meeting, candidates are selected through an application process and an interview. Your TOEIC, TOEFL and English Step Test scores will be taken into account as criteria for selection, therefore it is recommended you make preparations early on to take the certification examinations.

Program Contents

As exchange students, participants in this program attend classes conducted at the main campus of FHLU and Japanese-related classes conducted at the East Asia Institute for FHLU students for about 11 months. Therefore, most participants of this program attend classes conducted in English at the main campus and German classes geared towards international students. You can consult with the Japanese teachers who teach Japanese classes in the East Asia Institute regarding various issues.
